Wildcat Audubon's Mission

“To promote conservation and education about birds and other wildlife,
particularly in Western Nebraska."

 

Wildcat Audubon's Accomplishments

  1. Fifty years of providing conservation & educational wildlife programs in the area
  2. Provides a field check off list of birds for area
  3. Schedules wildlife and conservation field trips in the area
  4. Leads local nature hikes of special interests
  5. Provides a voice to Audubon Nebraska, the regional branch of the National Audubon Society
  6. Helps maintain houses for a bluebird trail at the Wildcat Hills used by mountain and eastern bluebirds
  7. Has provided funds for SOAR (Save Our American Resources) for BSA
  8. Provides social activities at our nature presentations
  9. Sponsors an interpretive panel on eastern and mountain bluebirds with Bluebirds Across Nebraska at Wildcats
  10. Provides a newsletter three times a year
  11. Promotes National Audubon’s first Nature Center at Rowe Sanctuary near Kearney Nebraska
  12. Promotes Nebraska Ornithological Union
  13. Has provided specimen trees for the Northfield Arboretum in Gering
  14. Helps to promote the nature programs at the Wildcat Hills Nature Center
  15. Have donated nature books at several local libraries and the Wildcat Hills Nature Center
  16. Sponsors Audubon Adventure Series to several schools in the area
  17. Sponsor a bird seed sale each fall
  18. Participate in Audubon Adopt a Wildlife Refuge Program (North Platte Wildlife Refuge)
  19. Worked effectively with Nebraska Games & Parks, Audubon Nebraska and the community to help establish the Wildcat Hills Nature Center and to have a resident naturalist at the Center
  20. Teach Beginner Birding Classes open to the public
